Spring Artist’s Way Classes

Join Lucinda Caldwell, founder of Giddy by Nature, for her ninth season leading The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron.

This intimate virtual course is capped at 8 participants and includes dynamic class discussions, guided prompts, and a strong sense of community. You’ll also receive one 1:1 session with Lucinda- a private space to go deeper and receive personalized support.

What is The Artist’s Way?

The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron is a 12-week journey (Lucinda adds one week to her course) designed to help people recover and strengthen their creativity. Creativity is presented as a way of listening inward - another tool for becoming more closely aligned with yourself, your instincts, and what matters to you. It treats creativity as a life-practice that can be rebuilt, not a talent you either have or don’t have.

At its core, the book helps people remove internal blocks (fear, self-criticism, perfectionism, and distraction) so creative work and intentional living can happen more freely and consistently.

During the 12-weeks, you will explore…

1. Morning Pages
You write three handwritten pages every morning, stream-of-consciousness. They are not meant to be good, shared, or (immediately) reread. The purpose of these pages is to clear mental clutter, quiet the inner critic, and surface what’s actually going on internally.

2. Artist Dates
Each week, you schedule one solo, intentional outing that feels luxuriously “unproductive,” nurturing, or interesting. No companions allowed!

3. Weekly Themes & Exercises
Each week focuses on a specific topic. You reflect through prompts and small behavioral experiments.

What the book is NOT

  • Not a how-to manual for specific art forms

  • Not focused on output or mastery

  • Not about critique, publishing, or monetization

What it IS

  • A structure for consistency

  • A process for reconnecting to intuition

  • A method for rebuilding confidence and creative momentum

  • A process that requires self-reflection and honesty: participants are regularly asked to look at their thoughts, habits, fears, and patterns. If you are not comfortable with introspection or self-examination, this may not be the right fit.

Please note: this book uses an optional spiritual lens. You’re welcome to interpret it psychologically, metaphorically, or in whatever way feels right to you. Some people feel hesitant about this aspect, but the journey can still be deeply meaningful without adopting any specific belief system.

Why should you readThe Artist’s Way with Lucinda and the Giddy by Nature community?

  1. Many people only get to Week 4 when they read the book on their own

  2. Just like you signed up for a soccer team in your youth, you need a team to be a part of in adulthood!

  3. Students say that the book shifts their perspective on life.

  4. Lucinda creates an accessible space. Students say…

"Lucinda is the ultimate hype woman and cheerleader. She accepts and inspires you through every step of your journey. Each week, I looked forward to connecting with Lucinda and my Artist's Way classmates, and I walked away feeling inspired, at ease, and Oh So Giddy.”

“Reading The Artist's Way is a LOT, and having the group made getting through it extremely manageable and held me accountable. Lucinda led every meeting with such openness and compassion and created a perfect space for vulnerability, warmth, and friendship."

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What if I don’t consider myself an artist?

This class is for anyone craving to lead a more intentional, joyful life. Everyone is creative.

Can you tell me more about the scholarships?

Scholarships are available for participants who would benefit from financial support but are unable to pay the full program fee. Please read more and fill out this form to submit your application!

This class seems like a big commitment - what if I can’t commit to it all?

My number one rule is SHOW UP AS YOU ARE! When I first read the book, quite frankly: I half-assed it. I wasn’t able to show up to all the readings and assignments in the way I hoped. But because I began - and showed up as I was in that season of my life - the content and space still profoundly changed my life.

Overall, I recommend not missing two classes in a row and attending at least 9 out of the 13 classes.

What if I miss a session?

All classes are recorded and shared within 24 hours.

What if I don’t “fit in” with the group?

This is one of my favorite aspects of the class: how many different kinds of people take it! People come together from all over the world; ages range from 18 - 90 years old; we have teachers, influencers, lawyers, folks in tech, retirees, artists, and people in-between jobs!

Can I sign up for the class two seasons in a row?

Yes! It is quite common for students to sign up for this class 2-3 times! Each time you read the book, different things will come up for you. Furthermore, each section seems to vary, and taking it with different groups of people can be so interesting and fulfilling.
